An ambulance is racing to the hospital. Inside the vehicle, paramedics are desperately trying to keep him alive. They have called ahead and a team is frantically getting ready to receive the patient and rush him to surgery. Gunshots have penetrated multiple organs and he is barely clinging on to life. The surgery could be performed by a surgeon with 20 years of experience or a surgeon with with 2 years of experience. Who do think would have a better possibility of successfully completing the surgery and saving the man’s life?
The answer is obvious. Why did you choose the surgeon with more experience? Because you know that experience means more practice and better skills. In your mind, you already know that hard work leads to success. The senior surgeon has 18 years more experience than the younger surgeon to save lives.
The same rule applies to everything else. The driver who has a million km driving experience will be better than the driver who has 10,000 km driving experience. The athlete with 10,000 hours of more training is more likely to succeed. The student who attended every class attentively, completed every assignment, and diligently prepared for the exam is more likely to succeed than the student who did not complete any of his assignments and daydreamed through his classes.
How can you attract success? Show up for class. Show up for practice. Show up for the exam. Do what needs to be done. Pay attention to what you need to do. Practice. Prepare. Compete. Put in the effort and work required. Success will follow. You attract success by becoming the kind of person who attracts success. You attract success in sport by becoming a better sportsman. You attract success in cooking but becoming a better cook. You attract success in sales by becoming a better salesman.
